GCash is a mobile wallet, mobile payment, and branchless banking service that is available in the Philippines. It is one, if not, the most preferred platform to use for daily transactions, especially with the pandemic affecting people's means of livelihood.

One of their upcoming campaigns called GCASH PO, "PO" meaning "Pera (Money) Outlet" or "Pera Opportunity", allows for the Filipino masses to pay bills, send money, buy load etc. The intended focus group for this campaign are the Filipino masses which includes "sari-sari store" owners, "palengke" or market vendors, as well as tricycle drivers.

THE CHALLENGE:

To convince the focus group to transition into using internet banking rather than traditional banking, which is what the majority of the Filipino masses tend to use.

The task for promoting the campaign is to create a logo for the service, "GCASH PO", as well as curating key visuals that promote the benefits of the service towards its target audience.

THE APPROACH

One of the requirements for making the logo was to retain GCASH's original logo, thus, the PO portion had the most room for creativity. Second was to retain the color brand's color scheme. The inspiration behind the logo was due to the name GCASH PO being an entire phrase in itself, "GCASH Po!", which serves as an encouragement or statement for people to use the platform. The peso sign was added to represent the "pera" within the acronym.
